Our Charities: The PoLG Foundation

At SΛNS MΛTIN, we support charities that are close to our hearts and resonate with our core values. We donate 1% of every purchase to our three charitable partners. This may not sound like a lot, but so far our 2% Promise has allowed us to raise over 20,000 pounds for our three charities, in just three years.

Alongside supporting Children Change Colombia and The Amazon Conservation Team, we'd like to introduce you to the PolG Foundation.

The PolG Foundation's mission is to support & accelerate research to find effective treatments & a cure for POLG-related mitochondrial disorders.

This non-profit organisation is close to our hearts at SΛNS MΛTIN. The foundation was started after a family member of one of our Co-Founders was diagnosed with Mitochondrial disease in 2016.

The once considered rare, Mitochondrial disease is now believed to affect 1 in 5000 people, rendering it the second most commonly diagnosed, serious genetic disease after cystic fibrosis.

PolG disease, a type of Mitochondrial disease caused by mutations in the POLG gene, is a genetic disorder that robs the body’s cells of energy, in turn causing progressive multiple organ dysfunction and failure.
