Our Charities: The Amazon Conservation Team

The Amazon Conservation Team is a charity working with Indigenous and local communities to protect the Amazon.

Over the last 25 years, ACT has expanded and created over 1.9 million acres of indigenous reserves. In that same time they have partnered with 78 local communities to work together to preserve and replant the Amazon Rainforest.

ACT's work is crucial in preventing deforestation, illegal cattle ranching, illegal river mining and displacement of indigenous communities in order to encourage diversity and decelerate climate change.

The charity works with Indigenous peoples to strengthen and ensure a continuation of traditional knowledge and culture is passed on to the next generation within local communities. 

These communities are the best possible allies in conservation in the wake of accelerating pressures on the forest’s resources. ACT works with local communities to secure rights to their territories, and to aid land management skills.

Transparency with our customers is very important to us at SΛNS MΛTIN. We still have a long way to go in achieving all of our sustainability goals, however we'd like to share the sustainable efforts we have built into our brand thus far.

All our shoeboxes and care cards are made from 100% recycled materials and our shoe bags are made from recycled cotton (from clothing) and recycled PET (plastic bottles).

All our outsoles are made from 60% natural tree rubber. Natural rubber is produced by sustainably tapping rubber trees in the Cauca region of Colombia. Each rubber tree has a lifespan of over 30+ years, in which no tree is tapped continuously over its lifespan. New rubber trees are then planted in their place.

The local rubber tree plantations we source from are planted on reclaimed land, having previously been used in the manufacturing process of narcotics.

To minimise our carbon footprint and ensure that all components of our shoes are ethically made, we locally source all our materials.
